Carry over annual leave policy will be in full for 2024 into 2025

It is our aim that everyone takes the leave they are entitled to ensure we all have enough rest to maintain our wellbeing. We are asking all managers and staff to ensure all colleagues have booked remaining annual leave to the end of March 2025 as soon as possible.

Unlike in recent years, in order to support the delivery of our EpicEPR programme across the Trust, we will be applying the 'carry over' policy in full this year. This means staff may only carry-over up to five days' annual leave into the next financial year's allocation if they have exceptional circumstances such as sickness, maternity or other special leave arrangements.

Please see How to Guides - Annual leave and General Public holiday entitlement - non medical staff - Toolkit.pdf - All Documents section 4.8 on the intranet for details. You must have applied for carry over by 17 March 2025. The application process for the carry-over of annual leave will be communicated early in the new year, however please note the limited circumstances in which it can be approved as detailed above.

As an alternative, you may be able to use the Extended Holiday Scheme, which enables you to 'bank' a maximum of five days each year to enable you to take up to 25 days' annual leave in one go in the future, in agreement with your manager. The process for applying for this leave is outlined in the Annual Leave Toolkit from p7.

Two weeks' maximum concurrent leave July-October 2025

In order to further support the delivery of EpicEPR training for all staff, colleagues will only be able to take a maximum of two weeks' leave at a time between 31 July and 31 October next year. Any extended (longer than two weeks) periods of leave that have been agreed prior to 1 November 2024 will be honoured.
