Bank Holiday Entitlements

We often receive queries about Bank Holiday entitlements.  Before raising a ticket the following should be considered as these are the most common reasons for the entitlement not being as staff think they should be

·

The number of Bank Holidays can vary year on year, the Annual Leave tables in the toolkit ( Annual Leave and General Public Holiday Entitlements)  provide the number of hours for an average year of 8 Bank Holidays.  For 22/23 and 23/24 years there have been 10 Bank Holidays and for 24/25 there are 7, therefore before querying please check the number of bank holidays for the leave year.

·        If staff are sick on the day a Bank Holiday falls we remove BH entitlement for that date.  Managers can check if an adjustment has been made for sickness as there will be a minus entry in the lieu section of the bank holiday entitlement

·         Bank Holiday entitlement is accrued on the date that it falls therefore if a staff member increases or decreases hours in year the daily entitlement for each Bank Holiday will be different as it is calculated based on the contracted hours on the day it falls.  If staff increase/decrease hours and future Bank Holidays have already been entered you should amend the allocated hours for the Bank Holiday as they may be incorrect.
